Frequently Asked Questions
Where do I get the books?
Fictionalities books will be available through the links on this website, or via Amazon
In what format are the books?
Fictionalities books will be available as eBooks via purchase through Amazon or as part of a Kindle Unlimited plan. They are also available as paperbacks through the Amazon store.
How do the prizes work?
For each Fictionalities book, the first person to solve the puzzle for that book will win the prize as listed on the website. If the prize has already been claimed, this will be indicated on the website. (Note: There may be some lag time between the first person claiming the prize and the website being updated. If this is the case, there is still only the single prize for the first person who claims it).
Do I have to purchase a book to receive the first solver's prize?
Not technically. You could borrow it off somebody else who has purchased it, or if you have Kindle Unlimited it will be part of your subscription. But as with buying any books, there are costs involved. If you're after a completely free challenge, try the Monthly Minis.
Who writes the Fictionalities stories?
Fictionalities is a collection of short stories writen by Lloyd McLean
I am a writer, can I have my stories included in a Fictionalities collection?
At this stage we are not taking external submissions for Fictionalities stories. But if you are a writer and the idea interests you, it's always worth putting your name on the radar. Feel free to shoot through an e-mail.
I think I've solved the puzzle, how do I submit my answer?
A unique feature of Fictionalities puzzles is that both the solution to the puzzle, as well as the way to submit your answer, are contained within the puzzle itself. It would be fair to say that if you are asking this question, you haven't solved the puzzle!
What are Monthly Minis?
Monthly Minis are separate single short stories, poems or prose that are published directly on the website each month. There are no prizes for solving these, except for recognition (optional) of your achievement. However, having a go at solving these may help you practice as you look towards solving the Fictionalities books.
